Walgrove Weekly Message

Dear Walgrove Families and Staff,

I would like to begin this week's message by expressing to Ms. Jackie Robnett my personal gratitude for her efforts this last year and a half. She has worked very hard in support of our Special Education students and families, hosting meetings, assisting classrooms, and ensuring that our Special Education staff have received the support they need to tend to our most vulnerable students.

Beginning this Thursday, February 1st, Ms. Robnett will be the Assistant Principal at Berenice Carlson Home Hospital School serving the utmost vulnerable.

I'm sure I speak for all when I put forth a huge THANK YOU and proffer my very best wishes for a fruitful future. Walgrove will miss you, Jackie! The District will assign to Walgrove a new APEIS. In the meantime, Jackie, Carly and the District have arranged for experienced folks to host the remaining IEP meetings. Walgrove Weekly Message

Dear Walgrove Families and Staff,

First, a huge thank you to Farmer Adam and parent volunteer Darcy Hughes for being brave enough and hardy enough to work in the Wildlands during pretty significant rain on Saturday!!!

While Adam and Darcy weeded and cultivated, Ms. B. and I (from two distinct spots on campus) participated in a podcast with UCLA professor Dr. Tyrone Howard on KBLA radio, talking about the many wonders of Walgrove and education.

HERE IS THE LINK TO THE PODCAST:

Second, a thank you to Jonney Machtig for providing a rich chess experience on Friday. And to staff for joining in!! (If you would like to donate to this venture which will likely be Fridays 7:30-4:30, please contact me. This is not currently an FOW-funded venture.)

Third, a shoutout to parents I saw this morning at the Rose Bowl Half Marathon! While I don't have pics with the parents (they are much faster than I!) I do have a photo of my friend Keriann and me. She was a pacer for a group which was also faster than mine, but we managed to run into one another afterward. And despite her ongoing battle with breast cancer, she is a badass who runs like the wind!

This is some of what is coming up this week at Walgrove:
