Dear Walgrove Community, 

 

In response to the recent surge in COVID cases, the near-capacity ICUs throughout CA and the new Stay at Home Order, LAUSD is closing all campuses end of day Wednesday, December 9, 2020. Campuses will re-open Monday, January 11, 2021. 

 

This means that there will be NO in-person tutoring, in-person special education assessments, teachers teaching from classrooms, Beyond the Bell childcare, athletic practices, distribution events, drive-by events, etc., on LAUSD campuses from December 10, 2020 - January 11, 2021. 

 

There will still be Grab and Go food distribution and COVID testing at the sites that have been offering Grab and Go food distribution and COVID testing. 

 

But as many staff as possible will be working from home for that month. 

 

Plant Manager Mike, B & G worker Tori Broussard, Garden Cindy, Ms. Chin and I will be coming to campus in a regular but staggered fashion throughout this time to care for the plants and animals. 

 

LAUSD gardeners will also continue to come to cut the grass (and continue to try to fix that one set of pesky sprinklers that continues to go off for too long on the Morningside side). 

 

Other than that, campus will be closed and secured. 

 

No volunteers will be allowed. No dropping off or picking up of materials will be allowed. 

 

If you need to swap a tech device during this time, you can contact me throughout the time the campus is closed. I will bring a few devices home with me so that I can make deliveries, as emergencies arise. 

 

If your hot spot stops working, you may contact me. I will then contact the District representative who should be able to turn it back on remotely. 

 

Regarding Picture Day, we are postponing Picture Day to March 3-4. We will keep the same sign-up sheet. If March 3-4 does not work for you, we will also have a subsequent time in late Spring. In the Spring, we will also share with you ways that you may upload your own photos. 

 

Regarding the District's Platform Request Form (AKA survey) about your preference for either hybrid or virtual instruction, while it was due yesterday, you MAY still be able to fill it out (you can try!). If it doesn't work, and your preference is VIRTUAL, then you may simply email me and let me know, and I will document that VIRTUAL is your preference. (All surveys not submitted will be recorded as Hybrid, and you can change from Hybrid to Virtual at any point.)

In respuesta al reciente aumento en los casos de COVID, las UCI de casi capacidad en todo CA y la nueva orden de quedarse en casa, el LAUSD cerrará todos las escuelas al final del día miércoles 9 de diciembre de 2020. Las escuelas volverán a abrir el lunes 11 de enero de 2021.

Esto significa que NO habrá tutoría en persona, evaluaciones de educación especial en persona, maestros que enseñen en los salones, cuidado de niños Beyond the Bell, prácticas atléticas, eventos de distribución, eventos de conducción, etc., en las escuelas del LAUSD a partir del 10 de diciembre. 2020-11 de enero de 2021.

Todavía habrá distribución de alimentos Grab and Go y pruebas de COVID en los sitios que han estado ofreciendo distribución de alimentos Grab and Go y pruebas de COVID.

Pero la mayor cantidad de personal posible trabajará desde casa durante ese mes.

Si necesita cambiar un dispositivo tecnológico durante este tiempo, puede comunicarse conmigo durante el tiempo que el campus esté cerrado. Llevaré algunos dispositivos a casa conmigo para poder hacer entregas cuando surjan emergencias.

Si su Hot Spot deja de funcionar, puede comunicarse conmigo. Luego me pondré en contacto con el representante del distrito, quien debería poder volver a encenderlo de forma remota.

Con respecto al Día de la foto, pospondremos el Día de la foto del 3 al 4 de marzo. Conservaremos la misma hoja de registro. Si el 3 y 4 de marzo no funciona para usted, también tendremos una fecha posterior a fines de la primavera. En la primavera, también compartiremos con usted las formas en que puede cargar sus propias fotos.

Con respecto al Formulario de solicitud de plataforma del distrito (encuesta AKA) sobre su preferencia por la instrucción híbrida o virtual, aunque se vence ayer, es POSIBLE que aún pueda completarlo (¡puede intentarlo!). Si no funciona y su preferencia es VIRTUAL, simplemente puede enviarme un correo electrónico y avisarme, y documentaré que VIRTUAL es su preferencia. (Todas las encuestas no enviadas se registrarán como híbridas y puede cambiar de híbrida a virtual en cualquier momento).
